Leader urges massive election turnout
The Leader of the Islamic
Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali
Khamenei has called on Iranians to turn out
massively in the June
14 presidential election in a bid to deal a telling blow
to enemies of Iran
The Leader said in a speech on Wednesday that
the Iranians should vote for a pious and revolutionary presidential candidate
“In short, the main criterion should be this:
Those whose effortsare
directed at preserving the dignity of the country and
its march
towards the realization of the goals of the revolution,” Ayatollah
Khamenei stated
“[The next president] should be firm and
determined. He should
trust in God and keep himself protected by the
remembrance of
God and then enter the race,” the Leader noted
Ayatollah Khamenei also called on the top
overseeing body
Guardian Council to vet presidential hopefuls for their
qualifications based on the body’s constitutional responsibility
A total of 686 individuals have signed up for
the presidential race
They will be vetted by the Guardian Council, which is a
12-member
body consisting of six jurists and six theologians, who in addition
to vetting hopefuls are tasked with confirming the election results
The Guardian Council has until May 21 to
announce the final list of
candidates

Ways to Improve Your Essay Scores
- Connect the purpose (thesis) of your
essay to the "big picture." This technique can be especially
useful in the conclusion of your essay. Don't just restate your
thesis!
- Be original. Answer the prompt with
creativity! Everyone else is likely answering the prompt with the same
approach. Take a risk, and be original! Most AP scorers
will reward you for not putting them to sleep with a boring yet
"safe" essay.
- Vary your sentence structure. Use
short sentences. Mix those in with longer sentences to add variety and sophistication to
your writing.
- Be specific. Which literary
devices did the author use? Why did he use these
particular literary devices? The more specific you are, the more
credibility you'll get from the AP scorer.
- Avoid passive voice. Active voice is
more direct and powerful thanpassive voice.
- Good: The author used alliteration
to emphasize his point.
- Bad: Alliteration was used by
the author to emphasize his point.
